Brawler in action
Brawler in under a minute on a synthesised DI: the four amps, GAIN, TONE and two presets.
Why Brawler
A miked amp from a dry DI
Brawler is the whole chain in one insert, already set up: hum and hiss cut, a boost, the amp, its cabinet and the post EQ, in that order. The default is a raw, mid-forward rock crunch with the speaker's roll-off, before you touch a thing.
Four amps, four cabinets
Sparkly clean, classic rock crunch, tight high-gain chug and a fluid singing lead, each into a speaker that suits it. One click changes amp and cabinet together, with a 30 ms crossfade, so you can switch while you play.
More drive, never more volume
The output stays at your dry guitar's loudness at every GAIN, so turning it up changes the tone, not the level, and every comparison is fair. GAIN also means the same drive on a quiet take and a hot one.
Gain. Tone.
Two big knobs do the work: how hard the amp is driven, and how dark or bright it sounds. The line under GAIN names what the amp is doing.

The guitar amp plugin
- Amp sim and cab sim in one. Four amps, each with its own cabinet: sparkly clean, classic rock crunch, tight high-gain chug and a singing lead, one click apart.
- More drive, never more volume. The output stays within 1 LU of your dry guitar on average, so GAIN changes the tone, not the level, and GAIN means the same drive on a quiet take and a hot one.
- A metal amp that stays tight. Choosing HIGH GAIN turns on TIGHT, a boost that cuts the boom going into the amp, and a threshold shuts out the hiss between chugs.
- Zero latency. Play and record through it; switch HQ on for a smoother top end in the mix.
- TYPE (CLEAN, CRUNCH, HIGH GAIN, LEAD), GAIN with its readout, and TONE (5 to 12 kHz).
- TIGHT (a low cut from 40 to 160 Hz and a mid push) and a hum-and-hiss threshold from -90 to -30 dB.
- HQ, MIX, Input and Output gain, IN and OUT meters, and ENGAGE.
- 13 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
TYPE · AMP AND CABINET
Pick an amp. Its cabinet comes with it.
CLEAN into a large open-back cabinet, CRUNCH into a vintage one, HIGH GAIN into a closed four-speaker stack, LEAD into a boutique cabinet.
What Brawler does
Every control has one job: a miked amp sound from a dry guitar, faster.
TYPE
Four amps, each with its own cabinet
CLEAN, a loud, sparkly clean into a large open-back cabinet; CRUNCH, the classic rock crunch into a vintage cabinet; HIGH GAIN, a tight, chugging amp into a closed four-speaker stack; LEAD, a fluid, singing lead into a boutique cabinet. Switching crossfades over 30 ms, click-free, and only the chosen amp runs.
GAIN
More drive, never more volume
How hard the amp is driven, 0 to 100 %: clean at the left, crunch around noon, full drive at the right. More sustain and grit, never more level. The line under it reads CLEAN, EDGE OF BREAKUP, CRUNCH, HIGH GAIN or SATURATED, measured for each amp.
The same drive on every take
Quiet or hot, GAIN means the same
Brawler reads how loud your track is and feeds the amp at the same level whether you recorded quietly or hot, so a setting sounds the same on every recording. Picking harder within a phrase still bites harder.
TONE
Dark to bright
Moves the amp's own tone and the speaker's top end together, from 5 kHz at the left through 9 kHz at noon to 12 kHz at the right. Turn it left to tame fizz on high gain, right to open up a dull clean.
TIGHT
Tight, defined chugs
The boost metal players put in front of the amp: it cuts the low end going in, from 40 to 160 Hz, and pushes the mids, so the amp grabs the pick attack, not the boom. Choosing HIGH GAIN on the face turns it to 60 %; a TIGHT you set stays put.
Quiet between notes
Hum and hiss shut out before the amp
GATE cuts the hum and hiss of your pickups before the amp magnifies them: OFF, or a threshold from -90 to -30 dB, -60 dB by default. It opens in 1 ms and closes over 120 ms. Lower it if quiet notes or long tails are cut short.
Zero latency
Play and record through it
Brawler adds no latency at its default settings, at every sample rate, so you can monitor through it while you track. Record the DI clean, then change the amp, the gain and the tone as often as you like.
HQ
A smoother top end for the mix
Runs the boost, the amp and the cabinet at twice your session's rate for a smoother top end on the heaviest settings. It adds 49 samples, about 1 ms, reported to your DAW at once. Leave it off while you record.
MIX
Clean attack under the grit
Blends the amp with your dry guitar in an equal-power blend. Lower it to keep some clean pick attack inside a dirty sound; at 0 % you hear the dry guitar exactly.
IN and OUT
Fit it to the track
Gain before and after everything, -24 to +24 dB each, with meters. The amp is already matched to your dry level, so OUT is for fitting it into the mix, and a safety limiter keeps the output under -1 dBFS.
13 sourced presets
Start from a sound that works
Clean combos, a clean at the edge of breakup, rock crunch, boosted metal rhythm, tamed high gain for a busy mix, singing and boosted leads, and grit for synths and keys. Every one stays within 1 LU of your dry guitar on average.
An amp that glows
See how hard it's driven
The three valves behind the cloth glow with the output, brighter the harder the amp is driven, and the pilot lamp shows ENGAGE. With ENGAGE off the amp stands by, lamp out and valves dark.

How Brawler compares
The amp, the cabinet and the boost in one level-matched insert, with no latency.
| Brawler | Typical guitar amp plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| The chain | Boost, amp, cabinet and post EQ in one insert, set up | Often an amp, then a cabinet and extras to choose |

| Tight rhythm | TIGHT boost and a hum-and-hiss threshold built in | Often extra plug-ins |
| Latency | Zero by default; HQ 49 samples, reported | Often added latency |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often host automation only |

Questions
Do I need a separate cabinet or other plug-ins?
No. Each TYPE has its own cabinet built in, and the boost (TIGHT) and the threshold that shuts out hum and hiss sit on the amp's cloth.
Can I play through it while recording?
Yes. It adds no latency at its default settings. HQ adds 49 samples (about 1 ms); leave it off while recording.
Why doesn't it get louder when I turn up GAIN?
Brawler matches its output to your dry guitar's loudness, so GAIN changes the drive only. Use OUT to set the level.
Is it a good metal amp?
HIGH GAIN is a tight, chugging high-gain amp. Choosing it turns TIGHT on at 60 %, a boost that cuts the low end going into the amp, and the threshold beside it silences the noise between chugs. High Gain / Boosted Chug and Metal Rhythm are ready-made metal rhythm sounds.
Will playing softer clean the amp up?
Within a phrase, picking harder bites harder. A whole section played softer is soon driven like a loud one, because Brawler feeds the amp at a steady level, following the track over about 3 seconds. For a cleaner section, lower GAIN or automate it.
Does it work on a stereo track?
Yes, but the amp is mono, as a real one is: the track is summed to mono and the result goes to both sides. Record two takes and pan them for width.
Can I use it on synths or keys?
Yes: the Producer presets, Amped Synth and Amped Keys, add grit and a speaker to sounds that are not guitar.
Can I load my own cabinet impulse responses?
No. The cabinets are built in, one per TYPE; there is no impulse-response loader.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://lenuque.com/brawler-guitar-amp-manual.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
